Patriek PaapPrison Island at Kartfabrique: can you escape?
๐ If you're looking for an activity that's just a bit different, Prison Island is a great choice. You'll find yourself in the old cell complex of the Kartfabrique in Utrecht at the right address. No standard games, but a clever mix of puzzles, teamwork and light action. You play in teams, try to solve assignments in a short time and collect points. Simply put: it's challenging, sometimes frustrating, but above all really fun to do together.
What is Prison Island?
๐งฉ Prison Island is a maze of 39 cells, each with its own assignment. Some are physical, others revolve around logical thinking, communication or working together under pressure. Think of it as a cross between an escape room and a TV show like Fort Boyard โ but at your own pace, with your own team.

How does it work?
๐ You play Prison Island in teams of three to four people, but you can also just come with the two of you! Together you get one key that gives you access to the cell complex. Each time you open a cell, time starts running and the assignment begins. Some are physical, others revolve around logical thinking, communication or technique. Outside the door hangs a hint โ helpful, but you really have to solve it together.
โฑ๏ธ The cells usually last between one and five minutes. Doesn't work the first time? Then you just try again or choose a different cell. You decide how to use your time, so playing tactically pays off. In the end it comes down to one thing: collecting as many points as possible.
What makes it fun?
๐ฒ That's easy: the variety. No assignment is the same and you don't have to stand still anywhere for long. You're constantly moving, both physically and mentally. Because you can always choose again which cell to play, the game stays dynamic and everyone stays involved. You quickly notice: those who work well together get the furthest.
๐ Moreover, it's nice and accessible. You don't have to be a top athlete or puzzle genius to participate. Each team member has their own role and it's precisely that mix that makes it fun. And yes, sometimes it goes completely wrong โ but that provides at least as much fun as a successful attempt.

For what occasion?
๐ Prison Island is a flexible activity that suits various occasions. Think of corporate outings where teamwork is central, an afternoon with friends who enjoy some competition, or a bachelor party that can be just a bit more active. Do remember: Prison Island is played in teams of 3 to 4 people. If you come with more people, the group can be divided into multiple teams.
How long do you play Prison escape?
โณ A session lasts at least one hour, but you can also choose 1.5 or 2 hours. Most teams choose 1.5 hours โ then you have enough time to try many cells without it feeling rushed. There's no break in between, so eat or drink something beforehand, then you can get started undisturbed afterward.
